Gaia Goddess Garden Carving Sculpture
carved in driftwood

This carved, driftwood pole is a representation of Gaia who created herself out of primordial chaos. From her fertile womb all life sprang, and unto Mother Earth all living things must return after their allotted span of life is over, their energy and compounds retaken and reprocessed into another life, be it sentient or not.

The Goddesss core is starting to deteriorate and decay but two small trees have sprouted from her crown. This art piece will slowly rot, the encapsulated energy in her wooden rings will change and be recycled into fresh life, representing the cyclic nature of birth, life and death, that is constant for all things, here on our green and blue planet.

Other symbolism:

* She has been left unsanded, rough and jagged to represent the wild, untamable way of Nature.

* Her belly has a spiral on it, representing the female powers of life and fertility. Spirals are primal, raw, and unrestrained power and growth.

*A blue Apatite gemstone is embedded into her brow. Associated with the Third Eye Chakra, the gateway that leads to the inner realms and spaces of higher consciousness. To know that all things are connected on our planet, is to be enlightened. May all people know this.

*Her crown is made up of three Celtic tree branches, Willow(healing and ability to adapt to changes), Rowan(protection and healing) and Birch(strength, new beginnings and protection). May Mother Nature adapt and grow stronger.

*Adorning the crown are Chevron Amethyst and Quartz crystals which are associated with the Crown Chakra(spiritual connection to the seen and unseen forces/energies) and a Willow fork in the center representing, a portal between the different dimensions of physical and ethereal existence. They represent our ability to expand our minds and beliefs beyond our current ones. May we all learn and evolve into better beings.
